Google has released another update to its mobile versions of Google Maps under the platform Android, which added several new features.

In the new version, which currently has a number 5.10.0, contains the following improvements:

• The ability to add photos to the pages of reviews of places
• View the location that the user has rated a 4 or 5 stars
• Improved appearance of map

Rumor: Android 4.0 will be called the Ice Cream

Icecream expected to follow Gingerbread and Honeycomb in 2011.

Google has since the launch of Android 1.5 operating system named after sweets. First came Cupcake (1.5) in May 2009, later followed so Donut (1.6, September 2009), Eclair (2.0, October 2009) and last Froyo (2.2) - short for Frozen yoghurt.

Google has already announced that even follow ups on Froyo, will be called the Gingerbread (3.0) and honeycomb (3.5), but have so far kept the name of Android 4.0 secret.

Now, says one of Google's partners, processor manufacturer ARM's vd Tudor Brown to Forbes that Android 4.0 will be called Ice Cream.

It is not the first time that Google lets one partner reveal the name one of their upcoming operating system, and also speaks highly of the rumor is true - who is not disgustingly many sweets that starts with "I".

The question is just when speculation about the sequel to Ice Cream get started? What next? Jellybeans?

Overview

YouTube experimenting with live video

Over the next two days, the Google-owned YouTube complete an experiment with live video streaming. It reports the news agency Associated Press. The experiment started Monday. 17.00 Danish time and described as an "alpha test".

YouTube has already relayed some events live, including a concert by rock band U2 and the American President Obama's first speech to the nation. But YouTube has every time spent outside partners to stand for the technique.

YouTube has reportedly also plans to offer streaming of Hollywood movie on payment for most of the world.

In the U.S. it is already possible to rent a large selection of movies online and download them directly to your computer or cell phone from services like Netflix, but it does not work if you are outside the country - yet.

Important notice: Google Apps browser support

I recently received an email from Google regarding its applications, I would like to share it with you.

Dear Google Apps admin,​

In order to continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features and performance, we are harnessing some of the latest improvements in web browser technology. This includes faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5. As a result, over the course of 2010, we will be phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers.

We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010. After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.

Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above.

Starting this week, users on these older browsers will see a message in Google Docs and the Google Sites editor explaining this change and asking them to upgrade their browser. We will also alert you again closer to March 1 to remind you of this change.

In 2009, the Google Apps team delivered more than 100 improvements to enhance your product experience. We are aiming to beat that in 2010 and continue to deliver the best and most innovative collaboration products for businesses.

Now Gmail will Serve you better Ads

When you open a message in Gmail, you often see ads related to that email. Let's say you're looking at a confirmation email from a hotel in Chicago. Next to your email, you might see ads about flights to Chicago.

But sometimes, there aren't any good ads to match to a particular message. From now on, you'll sometimes see ads matched to another recent email instead. For example, let's say you're looking at a message from a friend wishing you a happy birthday. If there aren't any good ads for birthdays, you might see the Chicago flight ads related to your last email instead.

To show these ads, our systems don't need to store any extra information -- Gmail just picks a different recent email to match. The process is entirely automated: no humans are involved in selecting ads, and no email or personal information is shared with advertisers.

Analyst: Google Nexus One proposes sales records

It is predicted already that Google Nexus One will be the best selling Android mobile with sales up to 6 million alone in 2010. It would make it more popular than among other HTC Hero.

Google Nexus One has been for sale for a week now in the U.S. and is predicted to be a great sales success, especially since Google itself is responsible for sales and advertising of the phone.

Anyway evaluate analyst Doug Anmuth from Barclays Capital, the Nexus One will be sold for up to 6 million copies only in 2010. It will make it the best selling Android mobile SAYS.

In comparison, it is expected that the total mobile sales at, for example Sony Ericsson and Motorola will land somewhere between 10-12 million copies.

However, there is much super-seller up to the iPhone, which is expected to be sold 30 million copies in 2010.

Search easier and faster than ever on Google.com - "Near Me Now"

"Near me now" another great application through which you can search easier and faster then ever one Google. This application was designed to address two user problems.

First, to make it fast and easy to find out more about a place in your immediate vicinity, whether user are standing right in front of a business or if it's just a short walk away. For example, you may want to know what other customers think about a restaurant before you go inside (see quick video below) or what they have been raving about on the menu before you order. By selecting the "Explore right here" option, you can find out more about a place "right here" with just a few clicks.

Second, to make searching for popular categories of nearby places really simple. Imagine that you emerge from the subway station and you want to grab a coffee, but you don't see a coffee shop around you. You can simply search for all nearby coffee shops by using "Near me now". To search other categories of places not shown, "Browse more categories" provides access to our local search product with more category choices.

"Near me now" is currently available in the US for iPhone (OS 3.x) or Android-powered devices with version 2.0.1 or later. You must first enable location in order for "Near me now" to appear, and "Explore right here" works only if the phone provides location accuracy within approximately a city block.

2. Google’s Caffeine Search Engine:

Google Caffeine is the next version of Google’s search-engine infrastructure and will soon be available to the wider audience. As soon as the search engine release the first threat will directly be on Microsoft’s Bing because Google Caffeine engine is expected to offer technology to deliver faster and more accurate results. This version was available for test and there is no specific date for launch given yet, but Google is sure to develop it fully in early 2010. The reason for not releasing it in 2009 was thoroughly explained by Matt cuts.

3. Google’s Ebook Store:

Google has always been fond of books and have encouraged it reader to take part often. I still remember when I met Badar Khushnood who is Country Consultant Google Pakistan that Google is aiming to digitize trillions of books in the next decade.With that love Google now plans to launch an online store for ebooks, which is expected to come in the first half of 2010. Google Ebook store will have half a million books initially in partner will few publishers. On the launch it is expected to have more than 500,000 books ready to be purchased from online stores such as Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. This interesting ebook store will be a strong completion to Amazon’s Kindle, which is today the most popular reader.

4. Google Chrome OS:

Google got a great response for Google Chrome and recently it also moved ahead of Apple Safari. And next in store we have Google Chrome OS – an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted only at netbooks. Google has planned to open-source its code, and will make Google Chrome OS available to users in the second half of 2010. According to Google, speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS.

This OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems.

5. Google Drive – GDrive:

Users usually have complained of not having enough space for them to store emails, photos, and files. With that in mind, Google came up the idea of Gdrive included in Google pack – online file backup and storage service from Google that integrated with Google services like Gmail, Picasa Web Albums, Google Calendars, and many others. GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device – be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone. Google Drive is highly anticipated and expected to be released in 2010 but it will only be an extended version of Google Docs. Instead of sending attachments, you’ll be able to upload files to Google Drive from Gmail.

New version of Google Mobile App for iPhone in the App Store

Good News for iPhone users that new version of Google Mobile App for iPhone was approved and is now available on in the App Store everywhere.

Latest in this version are the redesigned search results display that shows more results at once and, more importantly, opens web pages from the results within the app. This will get you to what you need faster.

For those less utilitarian and more flamboyant, they've exposed visual tweaks settings called "Bells and Whistles" - some of our users had discovered this already in previous versions. You can style your Google Mobile App in any shade: red, taupe, or even heliotrope. If you're on a faster iPhone, like the iPhone 3GS, you may want to try the live waveform setting which turns on, as the name suggests, a moving waveform when you search by voice.

Google releases YouTube v2.2.29

Today Google has released the new version of YouTube for Symbian S60, from version 2.2.21 to the current 2.2.29.

YouTube Mobile is the official software to view the video sharing site of the largest in the world directly from your terminal.

To download YouTube Mobile, just go to m.youtube.com Directly from the browser of your phone, click on "Watch YouTube on your phone.
