Blogging - why it works so good for SEO

Blogging is one of the most effective ways to increase your website rankings on search sites like Google and Yahoo. Blogging refers to posting your website links to blog sites to increase your website rankings. Blogging works best for SEO, since it is one of the most effective tools to make your website popular among the people. If your site is more famous it will generate more revenue as more and more people will visit your site.

You can follow these simple rules of SEO and your blog will definitely ranks much higher in search engines. You must use your primary keywords often in your blogs. The URL you post on blogs should contain a primary keyword to optimize your website. You can also use the main keyword in sub domains to get better results. If your site is about car parts then you can use the keywords "car parts" in your site. Likewise, it is necessary to use your main keyword in the title of your post and the titles of your WebPages. Also use the main keywords and keywords in your H1 and H2 headings to make them more searchable.

Then you can use your secondary keywords in your actual post on the blog. The more times a keyword is found in the Web page or mailing, the better the chances that search engines will be able to pick up the keywords. But it should not resemble spam. You should refrain from sending the same keywords again and again in the same position as then Google will ban your site for some time and your rankings will fall drastically.

You must also use your primary and secondary as much as possible in the anchor text, linking text to other blog sites or other blog posts. Also do everything to make your site easier for search engine to track. Also it is very necessary to make your navigation bar of the whole website on every page of the website. All of your previous posts should be attached to all sides so they can be easily searched by search engines.

You must also create back links to your site on as many blogs as possible. This is because it will help much in getting rank your website higher in search engine pages. The more links you have created higher the rank of your site on search engines. You can get back links to your site, submit your blog and RSS feeds to as many blog search engines and blog directories as possible. Exchange your links to other blogs and network with as many people as possible on blogs. If you find some interesting information on a blog, so do not forget to link it. The track will again be a link to your blog for a while. Ultimately, optimizing search engine results for your site, you should update your blog frequently.

Add, Edit or Delete Labels In Blogger / BlogSpot Blogs

Your blog must be having more than one labels or categories, and when a visitor visits your blog from search engines like Google or Yahoo, then most probably he/she will land on a specific page/post of your blog.

And if the reader likes the post, he/she will definitely search for similar topics on the blog, and this is exactly where, labels and categories will help the visitor. But again, the number and names of the labels are very important.

May be, initially you would not have given enough importance to these labels. And now when you realized the importance, you may find tens and hundreds of posts in your blog with improper labels, which need to be edited, or you may even want to delete some of the labels you have already added, or you may want to add some new labels to your previous posts.

Blogger does help you to do this quite easily, but I still think that they should make it even more better !

Anyways here's how you can edit, add or delete labels in Blogger.

Log in to Blogger, in the Posting section, click on Edit Posts.

See the highlighted regions in the image above.

As soon as you click on Edit posts, you will see all posts written by you (select posts per page as 300 in the right corner of the page).

1. Now to delete any label, click on "Select All". Then in the drop down menu "Labels action", under "Remove label" option you will see the list of all labels, click on the one, you want to remove for ever.

2. To add a label, select all the posts, you want to add the label. Then in the drop down menu "Labels action", under "Apply label" option click on New label.... Finally enter the name of the new label.

3. And in case you want to edit a label, unfortunately there's no direct option given by Blogger.

So do this, firstly in the list of labels column, present at the left side of the page, click on the label you want to edit. Now only those posts are displayed which have this label. Now add a temporary label to these posts. Then delete the label, you want to edit. Now click on the temporary label in the labels list. Now add the new label. Then finally delete the temporary label.

And finally display important labels as a link list in a widget, or display all the labels as a flash widget in your blog.

How to add Related Posts widget/Plugin to Blogger?

I was Wondering to find out the way to add related post widget to my blog and found many 'Related Posts' solutions for blogger platform, like the one I have on my blog.

But the thing I don't like is that most of the widgets display all those post with same tags. This will result the big list of related post in the end of your post. Finally, I have discovered an excellent solution to this, which only requires 3 lines of code to be embedded in the template.

Let's see how to implement this excellent way to show related posts in blogger. (Thanks to mintblogger)

Displaying Related Posts Below Blog Posts

Alternatively, you can choose to display related posts below each blog post. To implement that following these 3 simple steps.

1. Open your blog template the find the following line in the template.

<div class='post-footer-line post-footer-line-3'/>
...
</div>

2. Just below this code add a line of code like this.

<div class='post-footer-line post-footer-line-3'/>
...
</div>
<div id='related_posts'/>

3. Go to end of the template and find </body> tag. Just above this tag add the following two lines of code.

<script src='http://www.google.com/jsapi'/>
<script src='http://brps.appspot.com/brps.js' type='text/javascript'/>
</body>
______________________________________________________
Now save the template and view your blog. This script will show a maximum of 10 related posts. The execution time is very less because the data is cached by the script on the server.
