Microsoft heats up the console war by droping Xbox Price

After months of leaked details and blurry photos making the rounds on the World Wide Webs, Microsoft confirmed on Thursday morning that it is not only dropping the price of the Xbox 360 Elite with its 120-gigabyte hard drive starting Friday, but it will also cut the price of the Xbox 360 Pro from $299 to $249. The Xbox 360 Pro fire sale will last until supplies run out … and then the machine, with the 60-gigabyte hard drive, is gone for good.

Amazon US has warned Sony about the shortage of new Playstation3 slim. New PS3 slim will be available in the market next month. As there is a chance of shortage the famous retailer is trying to limiting the sales to one unit per household.Amazon wrote to Sony that;
“As you may know, the PlayStation 3 120 GB is in great demand, and there are shortages of this product across the US,”
“In an effort to provide as many customers as possible with the opportunity to purchase PlayStation 3 120 GB, we are limiting the total number of PlayStation 3 120 GB units that can be purchased. As a result, each household may only purchase one PlayStation 3 120 GB unit.”
The iPhone Ad You'll Never See
Apple's iPhone ads tell you that whatever you want to do, "there's an app for that." But what if you're trying to solve problems with the iPhone itself? Slate V imagines an ad for those apps.
Nokia's Ovi Store is now Live

Nokia on Tuesday officially launched the Ovi Store. This is the Finnish company’s answer to services like the App Store for the iPhone and the Android Market for Android smartphones. The Ovi Store allows developers to list their programs in an online catalog so users can easily download or buy them.
More than 50 Nokia devices are compatible with the Ovi Store and it can be accessed by visiting store.ovi.com on the browser or downloading the standalone application to your phone. We tried it on our E71 and it worked on both the browser and through the application. The first game we successfully installed did crash our phone, but we’ll put that down as the fault of the app rather than the Ovi Store.
Kevin Bacon Robbed of his Blackberry
On Thursday morning Kevin Bacon kicked off his Sunday shoes when a man grabbed his Blackberry from him at a New York City subway station and took off running. Kevin chased after the dude, but he lost sight of him in the crowd and the thief got away. I sure hope Kevin has insurance for that Blackberry. Mr. Bacon is used to people stealing from him and he’s probably getting upset about it. The Ponzi-schemer extraordinaire, Bernie Madoff, took Mr. Bacon Bits and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, for millions of dollars. Actors are generally regarded as being the smartest people in the world (just ask them) so it was hard to believe that he was able to fool the couple.
SlingPlayer Mobile comes to iPhone
SlingPlayer Mobile always seemed like a perfect fit for the iPhone and it’s large display. We have been waiting patiently for it to arrive with it looking less and less likely after rumors of AT&T and/or Apple preventing its release. According to Dave Zatz, SlingPlayer for iPhone is real and is should be up and ready for you to buy (iTunes link) starting tomorrow for $29.99. You will not be able to use it with your AT&T 3G network though as the application is limited to WiFi connections only. Engadget has a post detailing why AT&T won’t allow SlingPlayer to work over its network.
Dave is responding to people’s questions since he has been using the new client on his iPhone for the past month. Sling Media originally stated you would need to upgrade to a newer Slingbox to use this client and that set off a ton of people. Amazingly, they relinquished on this issue and the SlingPlayer Mobile client for the iPhone will work with all Slingbox units. It doesn’t look like the current software lets video fill the entire display, which is a bit of a shame. Read More...

TweetGenius for BlackBerry
Design and Functionality
From the instant you click the TweetGenius icon on your homescreen, it's very apparent that this particular app was created with a heavy emphasis on eye candy. Whereas other third-party app UIs for BlackBerry have frequently been categorized as clunky and not well thought out, TweetGenius is sleek and attractive. The launch screen features three main buttons -- Friends Timeline, Replies, and Direct Messages -- set in front of a cartoon-style city skyline. It's super clean and looks amazing on the Bold's 480 x 320 screen.

iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 4 now available

Man, they’re just cranking these things out. Just two weeks after iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 3 (which was, in turn, two weeks after iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 2), we’ve got another Beta.
Beta 4 of iPhone OS 3.0 is now available for developers, as long as they’ve downloaded the brand spankin’ new iPhone 8.2 pre-release. It just went live, so we’re not quite sure what’s new here. If you spot anything, let us know - we’ll do the same.
Also, it’s starting to look like we can expect Betas every 2 weeks until release. Next one ought to be on Tuesday, May 12.
Update: Details are still incredibly sparse, but here’s what we’ve heard so far:
- MMS now working on more carriers without modified carrier bundles (Only one report - still working on confirming this.)
- General performance updates, far less crash prone than the past builds.
- The “Store” settings pane now functions, allowing you basic control over your iTunes account
- API Change: “SKErrorPaymentNowAllowed allowed and was replaced with SKErrorPaymentNotAllowed”

Don't copy if you can't paste!

A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience.
He said : "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife!"
The audience was in silence and shock.
The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!"
Laughter and applause.
A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried to crack this very effective joke at home.
He was a bit foggy after a drink.
He said loudly, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!"
The wife went red with shock and rage.
Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out
"... and I can't remember who she was!"
Moral of the story:
Don't copy if you can't paste !
The act of Googling oneself

The act of Googling oneself has become the digital age's premiere guilty pleasure — an activity enjoyed by all and admitted by few. The phenomenon has even been the subject of scholarly research. Last year, a team of Swiss and Australian social scientists published a study concluding that the practice of self-Googling (or "Egosurfing" as it's sometimes called) can partly be traced to a rise in narcissism in society but is also an attempt by people to identify and shape their personal online "brand." The authors of the survey no doubt returned to their cubicles and Googled themselves to see if the study was posted online. (It is: right here)
Samsung HD i8910 (OmniaHD) is a witch. [Plus a video sample]
It looks like Samsung might have hired the same folks responsible for their last Omnia viral video to conjure up one for the HD i8910 (which, depending on where you live, may or may not go by the OmniaHD.)
This one doesn’t seem quite as creative as the last one (though, as that one was a play on something us gadget bloggers do on a weekly basis, we might be a bit biased toward it), but it’s bound to get them some hits. After showing off the HD i8910’s video quality a bit (which, if you pop the embed into HD mode, doesn’t seem too shabby. Of course, it’s professionally tailored not to), they make the phone “disappear”, challenging the viewer to guess how it was done.
Be it witchcraft, slight of hand, or a homage to Duck Soup, we’ve leave the sleuthing up to you - but check after the jump for one of the oddities we noticed.
Either someone forgot to flip the S’s when they were setting up the “mirror”, or the HD i8910 is made by Samsung’s secret sister company, Zamzung. Spot anything else amiss? Let us know in the comments.
